SaGae Cafe Food Review
Sa Gae Four Seasons Cafe is a fusion restaurant located at Lanang Business Park.
What I tried:
Roll Woodong (Php 200)
Stone Pot bulgogi (Php 250)
Snow Ggas Cheese Pork Cutlet (Php 300)
Ramyeon (Php 140)
One of Sa Gae's best sellers, Roll Woodong is a combination of Korean and Japanese food complete with kimchi, radish kimchi, pickled papaya and slaw for side dishes.
The main dish is an udon in miso soup with only a single fishcake. Boo. More like "paasa na soup". The California roll consisted of cucumber and egg only, rolled in overcooked/over-watered rice. They used regular mayonnaise instead of the salty Japanese version: Kewpie.
Luckily, the slaw was a refreshing and light appetizer. I believe the sauce was made of lemon juice and avocado, which gives a creamy, sweet, sour, and crunchy salad.
Another best seller, Snow Ggas is a dish made of breaded pork cutlets sandwiched between a bed of onions and lettuce at the bottom and mozzarella cheese on top. The crunchy and yet tender pork was perfect with its sweet sauce but becomes over-satiating due to the melted cheese.
The broth of the Stone Pot Bulgogi tasted the same with the roll woodong; miso soup that lacked savor. The beef strips were tough and left much to be desired.
I believe the safest choice in the menu would be the Ramyun. After all, it is a store-bought instant noodle whose flavor you can always expect to satisfy your cravings. Served with egg and the aforementioned side dishes, you've got a staple Korean meal.
Somehow, the fusion of cuisines did not work out. Even the interior was a bit haphazard, lacking smoothness in the transition of their American/European/Asian themes.
