Antonio's Bar and Grill Food Review

Antonio's Bar and Grill Logo

A popular restaurant that I didn't pay attention to until I got tired of eating in the same restaurants over and over.

What I tried:

Bird's Nest Soup

Grilled Tuna Panga

Seafood Pinakbet

Buko Pandan

Leche Flan

Despite being too salty, the bird's nest soup was a delicious appetizer: you'll get a little bit of each ingredient in one scoop: cubed carrots, bird's nest, egg, green onions, etc.

The grilled tuna panga was marinated just enough to let the fish shine through. It was moist, tender, and flavorful.

Along with the usual vegetables of a pinakbet, Antonio's seafood pinakbet has cream dory, squid, and shrimp as sourceof protein. Not a piece was overcooked, tough, or stringy. I especially liked the crunchiness of the kangkong and the okras. Topped with coconut cream, this pinakbet is a must try.

The buko pandan was too sweet, and didn't have a pandan taste to it. Just some milk or condensed milk and crushed ice.

But the leche flan...oohhh. It wasn't just a leche flan. An ordinary leche flan would look the same outside and inside. But the moment you dig your spoon in to it, you'll feel the stickiness and see the change in texture inside the flan.

When you taste it, you'll think of it as a yema flan. Sprinkled with rice crispies or pinipig, a leche flan doesn't get better than that.

The staff are attentive and efficient. You'll notice that they pay attention to the needs of their customers whether spoken out loud or implied. I encountered difficulty in removing meat from the tuna panga because of the unhinged knife and the small plate. One of the staff, I think he was the head waiter or the manager himself, kindly relieved me of my task so we can enjoy the rest of our food.

Accessible and affordable, you won't go wrong in dining at Antonio's Bar and Grill especially when you're not in the mood to try new flavors or cuisines.
