The Bright Side Food Review

This latest food spot is located at JJ Commune in Bo. Obrero, the Bright Side offers a mix of European, Mediterranean, and American staple dishes.

What I tried: Lemon Garlic Shrimp Pasta – Php 190 Potato Truffle Wedges – Php 90

Thick potato wedges seasoned with salt and truffle; a clear upgrade from mojos with a delightful flavor thanks to the truffle. I would’ve finished this appetizer in lightning speed had it not been too greasy. In my opinion, they should’ve opted to bake these babies rather than deep fry them. These potato truffle wedges were the heaviest appetizers I've tried.

For the lemon garlic shrimp pasta, I couldn’t quite determine whether the lemon juice used was freshly squeezed or something else flavored identically. The pasta was al dente, though the shrimps lacked that umami flavor. I loved the fried garlic bits but found them wanting. Parmesan was also scant.

The Bright Side is contained in a small space but with a nice and clean, minimalist interior decorated with wine bottles and fairy lights which brought a cozy ambiance. Our orders took longer than expected to think that they probably weren’t serving more than 20 people at the time. I would rate the food 5/10.
